Washcap/Crown Replacement

Work to be performed: (New Washcap)

-Set up rigging/scaffolding to reach the chimney.

-Protect roof surfaces adjacent to chimney.

-Safely remove existing masonry washcap being careful not to loosen bricks

-Pour new washcap over existing brick chimney

-Create gentle slope with steep angle edge for best performance

-Completely clean the roof and surrounding area.

Washcap/Crown Replacement

Chimney Tuck-Pointing

Work to be performed: Tuck-pointing

-Set up rigging to reach top of chimney.

-Protect roof surfaces adjacent to chimney.

-Grind out loose mortar between brick from lower roofline to top of chimney.

-Point in fresh mortar from lower roofline to top of chimney.

-Strike all fresh mortar with a concave striker.

-Resurface existing crown with topping mix.

-Completely clean the roof and surrounding area.

Note: Matchless will not be replacing or repairing any of the roof or chimney flashing during this repair.

Chimney Tuck-Pointing


Chimney Rebuild

Work to be performed: (Chimney Rebuild)

  • Set up rigging/scaffolding to reach the chimney.
  • Protect roof surfaces adjacent to chimney.
  • Remove old brick and mortar as needed.
  • Dispose of debris (no charge)
  • Replace flashing as needed.
  • Rebuild the chimney with new brick.
  • Note: The brick we use are a medium to dark red; the color or size may not match
  • A corbel will be built at the top to direct water away from the chimney
  • Pour new washcap over existing brick chimney
  • Create gentle slope with steep angle edge for best performance
  • Completely clean the roof and surrounding area.

Chimney Rebuild


Fireplace Restoration

Work to be performed: (Fireplace Restoration)

  • Remove the existing clay liner to make room for the stainless steel liner.
  • Remove damper and frame to access the smoke chamber.
  • Install stainless steel liner to run from top of chimney to smoke chamber.
  • Cast a new smoke chamber from liner to firebox.
  • Insulate around the stainless steel liner with masonry insulation.
  • Install a new top sealing damper and rain cap*.
  • Test the function of the fireplace.

*The new damper will be operated by a spring handle in the firebox via a cable.

Work to be performed: (Flashing Repair)

  • Set up rigging/scaffolding to reach the chimney.
  • Remove shingles around chimney.
  • Remove roof & chimney flashing.
  • Install Ice & Water Shield around chimney.
  • Install new shingles.
  • Install new step flashing.
  • Install flashing on chimney (counter flashing).
  • Completely clean the roof and surrounding area.

Chimney Liner Installation

Work to be performed: (Chimney liner)

  • Set up rigging to reach top of chimney.
  • Protect roof surfaces adjacent to chimney.
  • Install a stainless steel liner from top of the chimney to the thimble.
  • Install a stainless steel tee at the thimble.
  • Insulate around liner top to bottom with masonry insulation.
  • Install a stainless steel cap on the top of the chimney.
  • Replace furnace pipe (If installing a furnace liner) as needed.
  • Thoroughly clean roof and house.

Chimney Liner Installation

Install/Replace Wood Stove Chimney

Work to be performed: Install "Class A Chimney"

  • Install Single or Double Wall stove pipe and attach to wood stove.
  • Penetrate wall or ceiling and convert pipe to stainless steel "Class A" Insulated pipe.
  • Install a "tee" support to hold chimney in place
  • Begin connecting pipe upwards bracing chimney with wall brackets to steady chimney pipe.
  • Wood Stove pipe must rise 2ft above anything 10ft around it (to allow for heat and smoke to safely exhaust.
  • Install Roof Brace Supports to secure chimney.
  • Install Stainless Steel Rain Cap
  • Completely clean the roof and surrounding area.

Chimney Liner Installation

Chase Top Replacement

Work to be performed: Replace Chase Top

  • Precisely measure existing chase-top.
  • Order custom Stainless Steel Chase top with exact measurements of previous chase top.
  • Remove existing chimney cap and chase top carefully as to not damage cap or chase structure.

     *Matchless will not be responsible for replacing existing chimney cap.

  • Install new Stainless Steel Chase Top, and secure it to wooden chase (Prefab chimney)
  • Install Existing chimney cap back on chimney pipe.
  • Screw chimney cap to new chase top and seal off screw holes.
